After one year of operation the BioBooster wastewater treatment plant at Thise Mejeri in Denmark is already undergoing a facelift to increase treatment capacity. This has become a necessity to accommodate Thise’s significant expansion of milk production. Production of cheese and butter alone rose 25% in the past six months.
Bent Gadgaard, Managing Director at Grundfos BioBooster comments: “The expansion at Thise reflects the cornerstone of our solution; the ability to expand the treatment plant and adjust treatment capacity ensure the customer a quick response to changing production needs. Also, Thise Mejeri’s confidence in our technology and the partnership we have established lays the foundation for future projects to come”.
Treatment capacity has been expanded by 100 percent within a period of less than two months, while avoiding any hindrances in Thise’s own continuous production. The capacity increase is based on BioBooster’s PBR technology (Pressurised Biofilm Reactor). A total of three additional containers have been added to the existing containerised treatment plant, which now consists of a total nine containers.
The expanded module of the BioBooster treatment plant is scheduled to operate later this month.
